When was the first Snowman made? No one really can pin point the time or date of the first one but we do have records of some made in the historical records going back in time. Now some would say that the Eskimos would be the ones to make them but you need moisture to make a Snowman and there is not enough to make one. Go figure. The Winter of 1511 in Brussels for 8 weeks starting January 1 it was called the “Winter of Death”. The people made Snowmen and Snowwomen all over the city. Some Snow People were quite tame, St George fighting the Dragon and saving the Princess. Cupid and Arrows, Adam and Eve. Others began to open the book on sex in various states of compromise. During this time they were left to melt. Others have used Snowmen as how I want to get rid of my rival, Tsarevich Dmitry, son of Ivan the Terrible had soldiers build snowmen and then cut heads off saying that is what I want to do to Tsar Feodor and Boris Godunov and then not knowing there was someone there against him, ratted on him, and he died of stabbing wounds a few days later in Russia. I think that the way we now make Snowmen and Snowwomen are much more reasonable and fun. Some may have political opinion or sexual innuendo to them but mostly they are just great Frosty types. I will take a Frosty type any winter!
